Publisher’s Weekly has named Vroman’s Bookstore 2008 Bookseller of the Year (following our example, no doubt!)
And another reason we like Vroman’s is they engage in karmic marketing with their Vroman’s Gives Back Program. And you know what suckers we here at SVP are for karmic marketing.
They also offer classes, free Wi-Fi, a twice weekly story time, and a monthly Graphic Novel reading group. They also host scads of author events, most recently Jimmy Carter. How’s that for status?
So if you find yourself in Southern California, do yourself a favor and check them out.

Until next time...

Again -- what hip bookstores that have their own blogs!! I LOVE the idea of a graphic novel reading group -- I'd imagine it must be quite a bit chattier than your average reading group! On their events calendar I see a huge YA night with e. lockhart for HOW TO BE BAD next week. It's really very cool that an indie has such a huge group of well known writers coming to visit. It's part of the Pasadena thing, yes, but it's great that they're really talking up YA too. Go, Vromans!
I love Vroman's. I used to live near Pasadena and I had a few friends who worked at the store. Ray Bradbury was known to visit there from time to time--with his parrot!
Cheers to Vroman's!
And in observance of the month--though Pasadena's a bit far for me (3000 miles), I did make a purchase at my local indie this weekend.
